Funding Spotlight
Zebras Children and Adults Charity works with families in the Enfield area who are impacted by disability. In 2024/25 the RSA Trust provided £10,000 to fund Zebras’ Fresh Fruit and Vegetables delivery scheme, which provides vulnerable families with weekly deliveries of fresh fruit and vegetables for up to twelve weeks, along with support to build resilience and develop healthy eating habits.

The profits generated by RSA Island Village are used to fund charitable projects in the community.
The RSA Trust makes grants to charities within Enfield and the wider community from the profits generated by RSA Island Village Ltd operating the RSA Island Centre.
Helping young people develop their full potential.
Supporting local business enterprise including creating opportunities for women to start their own businesses.
Supporting organisations that providing care to the sick and elderly.
Conserving and promoting the industrial heritage of RSA Island Village
The RSA Trust achieves all of this without any ongoing support from Central or local government.
About Us
The charity was established in 2004, as a vehicle for distributing profits from the rents of commercial space at the RSA Island Centre which were created following successful regeneration of the former Royal Small Arms Factory’s main machine shop.

Enact (Enfield Island Youth & Community Trust)
Enact Youth Club is based in RSA Island Village providing a wide range of activities for children aged from 0-19 years old including dance, yoga, family trips, a running club and a community allotment.

This large residential care home situated in 25 acres of gardens originally provided care for residents of Italian heritage. Today it cares for individuals with a wide range of multicultural backgrounds.

Enterprise Enfield
Enterprise Enfield is an independent enterprise agency approved by the Department
for Business and Trade. The organisation, established in 1985, offers a comprehensive range of business support services and facilities specifically designed to encourage, guide, inform and inspire people to be successful in business.

We typically identify small local charities which have a strong track record of delivering projects and have high levels of accountability and ideally fund projects not funded elsewhere.
Applicants will have an initial interview with one of our trustees, or CEO before being invited to complete an application form. Following a board meeting a decision will be made that typically has conditions attached.
Our Trustees & Chief Executive Officer
GAry Walker – Chairman, Rsa trust & director RSA Island Village
Gary started his career at British Aerospace and IBM before founding Data Connection with six colleagues, a software company based in Enfield which became Metaswitch and then part of the Microsoft family. He has also served on the board of Enfield Enterprise. Gary was the chairman of RSA Island Village from inception in 1997 and led the team which created the RSA Island Centre. In 2015 he handed over the chairmanship to Martin Jewell but remained a director of RSA Island Village. Gary has chaired the RSA Trust since it was created in 2004 and is the Chairman and a trustee of the Youth Trust Enact.
Martin Jewell MBE – Chairman, RSA Island Village Ltd. & Trustee, RSA Trust
Martin is currently Chairman of RSA Island Village Ltd and a trustee of the RSA Trust. He has a background in planning and development having worked for Local Authorities across greater London and, from 1987 to 1997, was the Borough Planning Officer for the London Borough of Enfield. Martin helped to establish Enterprise Enfield and served on its Board for nearly 30 Years and its Chairman for a few years. In 1997, he became a director of Fairview Estates (Housing) Ltd and, having left that position, in 2006 with three colleagues, he was a founding Director of Chase New Homes.
DR. Mike Taylor – Trustee, RSA Trust & director RSA Island Village
Our original Estate Manager, Mike Taylor, brings detailed operational knowledge to the Board of RSA Island Village. His record in the community and breadth of knowledge away from estate management makes him a valued trustee of the RSA Trust as well.
Michael Polledri MBE – Trustee, RSA Trust & Director, RSA Island Village
Michael began his career as a chartered accountant at KPMG before establishing Lee Valley Estates, an organisation specialising in commercial lettings and community driven regeneration, serving as its chairman for 30 years. He is a former director of Enterprise Enfield and a trustee of the RSA Trust.
Roger Weeks – Trustee, RSA Trust & Director, RSA Island Village
After a successful career in IT at Metaswitch Networks, Roger is the current Chairman of Enterprise Enfield and the North London Chamber of Commerce. This helps us stay in touch with businesses and the third sector in North London.
Mark Hayes – Trustee, RSA Trust
As Chief Executive of Christian Action Housing Mark worked closely with RSA Island Village. Since stepping down from that role, his knowledge of the needs of local people combined with his philanthropic nature have made him a key trustee of the RSA Trust
Dr. Hani Armstrong – CEO RSA Trust
Hani’s early career was spent in the publishing sector at Consumers’ Association. Hani formed part of the Which? Online launch team in 1996, an early entrant into the paid-content market and the UK’s largest subscription site at the time. Later followed marketing and commercial roles within the digital advertising industry. Prior to joining RSAIV Hani was Managing Director of Barefruit and Protected Brand.
